The Linscotts are placing solar-powered pumps in their water wells.

"We want to help out with all the shortages of electricity so if we do solar we won't have to go off the grid," said Lyle Linscott.

Solar electricity has already cut their house's electricity by one-third, and now they are hoping to save more electricity by bringing solar-powered pumps to the wells and encouraging others to do so.

"If everyone did this, electric usage would be cut by a third," said Mr. Linscott.

The Linscotts believe with the latest technology, solar power is a more viable option.

"We are looking to do more solar up at the house and it will be less than the first round because technology has improved dramatically."
