Mother of Abused Baby Issues Statement

By: Joey Hollingsworth
Updated: January 5, 2012
Jennifer Westbrook, the mother of the baby who was abused by his babysitter spoke out about the incident on Facebook.

"I am so grateful for...the love and support and there are no words to express the gratitude for each and every person that has reached out to us," Westbrook writes.

Her words were written on the "Prayers for Austin Jace Westbrook" page on Thursday afternoon, just two days after Kara Galinak was arrested for admittedly shaking Westbrook's 3-month-old baby twice and throwing him on the couch at the child care center she ran from her home.

Westbrook expresses her appreciation for the focus on positive sentiments toward Austin, and encourages readers to also keep Galinak's family in their prayers.

"They are innocents that are hurting as well, and I do not want any further harm or repercussions brought on them," Westbrook writes.

A fund has been set up at Abilene Teacher's Federal Credit Union under "Donations for Austin W."
