He's a Wylie bulldog and Master Chef extraordinaire, who says his mom was the inspiration behind his culinary creations and the one who taught him how to make his very first dish, buttermilk biscuits.

Ben Starr competed on the second season of Masterchef, a show on Fox feature famed chef Gordon Ramsey.

Starr describes competing on the show "as the most stressful... exhilarating... wonderful.. and terrible thing I've ever done in my whole life, all rolled into one."

To demonstrate his expertise in the culinary arts, Starr put the finishing touches on the cake he used to audition for Masterchef.

"It's my own creation, I invited it," he says, "it's pumpkin carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and candied hazelnuts."

Starr also commented on his Key City ties, saying, "It was great growing up in Abilene, if I ever have a family Abilene's the place I want to raise them, and Wylie's the school I'd want to send them to. I had so many opportunities at Wylie because it was a smaller school... It's really a great place!"

Starr says his favorite thing to cook is Tai and Italian food.  To find out more about Ben Starr you can read his blog at www.benstarr.com or find search for Ben Starr on Facebook.
