The little puppy has no name. She also, has no home.
But the Abilene Animal Shelter never gave up hope for the pup, and tonight she'll make her way by plane to a rescue shelter a few hours east in Terrell.
"It's really hard to know what the actual story is of how that animal got there. But we're just happy she's got a great future," said Abilene Animal Services Manager Aaron Vannoy.
Just a few days ago the puppy was found at the busy intersection of Southwest and Catclaw Drive. After no one came to claim the animal the city posted her picture to their website, and was immediately contacted by Ruff Mutt Bordie Collie Rescue.
"They will take the animal in, provide some veterinary care for it. They will go ahead and get the animal fixed, they'll give her vaccination they'll do testing for worms and for heart worms and things like that and then they will start working to find a permanent placement," Said Vannoy.
Unfortunately the shelter takes in thousands of animals needing homes each year. But for the playful, just six month old Bordie Collie, she will be the first from here to get a first class flight to a new life.
"This is just one of those groups that they have a pilot that volunteers their time to fly the animal because they love animals and they want to find it a good home," Said Vannoy.
After a quick flight east with her new friends the puppy will be met with love and care, until that home is found.
City ordinance allows forty-eight hours for an owner to claim a lost dog. The shelter says it's likely the puppy could have been abandoned.
