As of 6:00 p.m. Saturday, ten people who were injured in an Abilene Christian University bus crash Friday remained in hospitals in Abilene, San Angelo, and Dallas.

ACU President Dr. Phil Schubert visited with some of the patients at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene Saturday morning, as well of the family of 19-year-old Anabel Reid, who was killed in the crash.

A day after the tragic accident, many on campus are looking for answers.

"You don't know what to think, you're wondering why, you have so many questions," said Taylor Truitt, an ACU student.

After the crash was first reported, many students scrambled to learn more.

"There were students gathered all around the TV's. That's when I first saw the picture of the bus. It was a very shocking moment for me," Truitt said.

Sixteen students and faculty members were heading south on Highway 83 for an annual mission at Medina Children's Home in Kerrville.

Their trip to help others ended in tragedy. DPS troopers said the driver hit a concrete culvert and rolled the bus in Runnels County south of Ballinger.

"I think it was more shocking because we had heard that she was okay," said Ashley Owens, who attends ACU.

Owens said she initially got a text saying her friend, Anabel Reid, was taken to the hospital after the crash.

"Then, we got a call from our friend...saying that Anabel had died," she said.

Reid was pronounced dead at the scene. Fifteen others were injured.

"It's just a very intense, emotional time for the ACU community. We're going to have to work together to get through this," Truitt said.

Officials at ACU said one of the ten people receiving treatment may be released soon.
