Cub Scouts Round Up Donations to Food Bank

By: Marlisa Goldsmith
Updated: November 7, 2011
Thanks to a local group of cub scouts, there will be less people going hungry this upcoming holiday season.

Last week the young boys handed out grocery bags for residents to fill with non-perishable items to be collected this past Saturday.

Saturday morning they collected those bags from front porches and donated the collected food to the West Texas Food Bank in Abilene.

The leader of the group says that the annual event is a great way to teach his boys at a young age what giving is all about.

A grand total of 3,847 pounds were collected and donated to the West Texas Food Bank here in Abilene.
