"No one will forget it. His birthday," Said Mother Latoshia Francis
Kobe Lamar Francis, born at 11:11 a.m., on November 11th, 2011, weighing almost 11 pounds. Right here in Abilene, at Abilene Regional Medical Center.
"We're like 'hurry hurry hurry!' you know, trying to get it done by 11:11. And we got it done by seconds!" Says Abilene Regional nurse Amanda Sherley
"It feels pretty good, a new edition to the family," Says Keon Francis, Kobe's Father.
At 10 pounds, 4 ounces, Kobe is the fourth child of parents Latoshia and Keon Francis, who were not expecting their C-section delivery to come right at the time it did.
In fact it was the nurses who were secretly hoping to deliver in the lucky moment.
"We had three C-sections today and usually we don't get three done before noon, so I didn't think it was going to happen," Said Sherley. "But all of us nurses did good teamwork and made it happen. Even the doctor didn't think it would happen. We called him from his office and said 'we're in the OR, we're ready!"
"We were hoping it would be closer to that time. They had said a couple more days before that.. but it ended up being 11:11am, 11/11/11!" Said Keon Francis.
With ten little fingers and ten little toes, the little baby was born. And, on a date and time that's been tied with well wishes and luck.
Right here at Abilene Regional Medical Center.
