McKay's Bakery Reopens

By: Katie Thompson
Updated: November 18, 2011
A popular downtown Abilene business that almost shut down for good is now open.

McKay's Bakery on Cypress Street re-opened its doors today under new, but not-so-new ownership.

The bakery's founding family decided to buy back the business after word spread that its previous owners were planning to close the bakery permanently.

They say the thought of McKay's not existing in Abilene was upsetting to them.

They are now ready for business and are busily working to prepare baked goods in time for the holiday season.
