Tiffany Norton said police were at her house immediately after her boyfriends escape.

When KTAB's Victor Sotelo ask Norton if she thought he was coming to her she said, "No,
because they spotted him over here on Matador."

That is where his friend lives, she said police asked if she knew anything about his plans but all she knew was what he had told her two days before he escaped jail by climbing a
fence.

"He told me he would make the news, I didn't know he would be getting chased by cops," said Norton.

When bates took a truck from the Abilene State Supported Living Center, police believed he was on his way to see her.

Norton said, "He has no body but me."

Police spotted Bates near the area and that's when a high speed chase began before Bates was taken back into custody.

Norton said he was facing life in prison on other charges.

Norton was surprised that Bates didn't have a plan for his escape.

The two have three year old together who is currently with Bates's mother.
