APD: Drunken Driver Speeds Away Through Neighborhood

Yesterday morning at 8:55 Officer mike McGrew was dispatched to a forgery in progress in the 2000 block of Antilley. A male subject was attempting to cash a stolen check. He was placed under arrest for Forgery.

At 4:20 p.m. Officer Jimmy Woods was dispatched to a call of an intoxicated subject at South First and Clack. Officer Woods arrived and saw that this male subject was panhandling in the roadway. This male subject was intoxicated and was placed under arrest for public intoxication. During a search of his person he was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He will also be charged with possession of marijuana and begging/peddling in the roadway.

And finally at 2:05 a.m. Officer Damien Hutchinson attempted to stop a vehicle for an inoperable headlight. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed through a residential area and pulled into a residence in the 2100 block of Fannin. Officer Hutchinson contacted the minor male driver who smelled of an alcoholic beverage. This male driver also admitted to smoking marijuana. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) and reckless driving.
