2011 was a record-breaking year for adoptions at the Abilene Animal Shelter.
More than 2200 animals were adopted from the shelter last year.
The month of December was also a record breaker; as 219 animals found homes in the month.
Shelter officials say they've also seen an increase in foot traffic. Normally they see about 40-visitors a day, but recently they've had as many as 70 to 80 people stopping by every day to look at the animals.
