The local Tea Party hosted an open forum for the public to ask questions of both Taylor County Sheriff candidates.
Ricky Bishop, currently a deputy with Taylor County, is running against incumbent sheriff Les Bruce.
Tonight's most common topic was about giving deputies pay raises.
The Tea Party hopes it gives voters a better picture of who they are choosing at the polls.
"People need and deserve the chance to get out and speak with the candidates personally, and we have every intention of doing that with our local elections here in town," said Patty Hippley.
In the future, the Tea Party will hold additional forums for candidates running for other Taylor County offices.
