After this weekend's act of vandalism, some parents and community leaders are raising questions about security at Abilene schools, especially when school is out. Looking at both Abilene High and Cooper High schools, Abilene High is without security cameras. The principal of Abilene High, Terry Bull says, the school does have an alarm system, and they work along with the Abilene police whenever that alarm is set off. On the other hand, Cooper High School does use monitoring cameras. School officials say the cameras have prevented vandalism and even caught students in the past.
Since the failure of the bond election, there has been no word on any security upgrades for the district.
