A 3-year-old girl was flown to a hospital in Lubbock after being shot in the head.

The Fisher County Sheriff's Office responded to calls of a baby being shot at 6:45 Monday evening, according to the sheriff.

The sheriff's office reports that one of the parents of the girl was handling a gun and dropped it, causing it to discharge and strike the girl in the head.

The case is still under investigation, although the sheriff says they currently have no reason to suspect any other explanation for the girl being shot.

The girl is reportedly in good condition, and doctors say she is talking.

My God, the picture makes it look like a criminal act carried out by horrible people. It was an accident.
