TSTC Issues Statement on Nursing Program Conditional Status

Texas State Technical College has issued the following statement regarding their associate's degree nursing program being put on conditional status by the Texas State Board of Nursing:


Texas State Technical College West Texas is aware that NCLEX pass rates have dropped just below the 80 percent requirement for the Associate Degree Nursing Program. The Board has issued the conditional status to provide TSTC West Texas with the opportunity to correct the issue. TSTC West Texas is committed to fulfilling the Board of Nursing requirements. The nursing faculty is MSN prepared and have strong expertise in the clinical area. Donalyn Alexander, Program Director, is a Master's level RN with over 30 years of nursing experience. The highly-experienced team has worked to revise the curriculum, program and improve community and clinical site connections. TSTC West Texas is working toward being the premier two-year program in the area. This status applies only to the Associate Degree Nursing program; the program will continue with the current cohorts and is tentatively scheduled to start a new cohort in January 2013. The TSTC vocational nursing program meets all Board of Nursing education requirements including NCLEX pass rates, currently at 88 percent.
