Potholes and pavement deterioration were observed on the bridges at Middle Creek, Palo Pinto Creek and Russell Creek. The most severe damage is located at the eastbound Middle Creek bridge, where TxDOT has closed the outside lane until repairs can be completed.
Work will begin Feb. 13 and is estimated to be finished by late March.
Crews will make repairs to the Middle Creek and Palo Pinto Creek bridges (on the east end of the
county) simultaneously with one lane closure and then will move on to repair the Russell Creek bridge at Mile Marker 357, which also will involve a lane closure. One lane will remain open to traffic at all times.
"The bridges are safe, but repairs must be made in a timely manner to prevent further damage and more costly and complicated work," explained TxDOT Brownwood Traffic and Maintenance Engineer Carl Johnson, P.E.
The repair contract was awarded to Gibson and Associates, Inc., of Balch Springs
for about $427,500.
