News that the remains discovered in Big Spring Tuesday afternoon are not those of Hailey Dunn has given volunteer searchers a renewed energy in the search for the missing Colorado City teen.
"That has lifted a burden off of our hearts and we have hope now," says searcher Terrie Newcomb. "We have hope that she is still out there somewhere. Alive."
The group as been working on Hailey's Hope, a place filled with stuffed animals sent from all over the nation where people can come to meditate and pray.
This morning the mood was somber, but hopes are high now, and searchers plan to continue searching as soon as tomorrow.
The group had a search dog scheduled to assist in a Wednesday search, but it was canceled with the news of remains found in Big Spring.
"We're going back to it. Tomorrow we're going to search," Newcomb says. "We're not giving up."
Now the group can stop wondering and get back to business.
