APD: Officer Recognizes Man with Warrants, Arrests Him for Meth

Yesterday morning at approximately 10:20, Officer Jeffrey Bell made contact with a known male subject that Officer Bell knew had several local warrants. This contact was made at a residence in the 5400 block of Taos Drive. He was arrested for the warrants and searched prior to being transported to jail. During the search a substance was located on his person and tested positive for methamphetamine. The man was also in possession of a smoking device and packaging equipment. The man was arrested for four traffic-related warrants and for possession of a controlled substance, to wit: methamphetamine.
Yesterday at approximately 5:35 p.m., Officer Edward Cutbirth was dispatched to a disturbance call in the 500 block of Chapel Hill Road. APD was advised that a young male suspect and another man were in a verbal altercation after the suspect allegedly broke a bottle of beer on a homeowners brick mailbox. Officer Cutbirth arrived at the incident location and observed a disturbance in the middle of the roadway. Several people were apparently restraining the young suspect from fighting. Officer Cutbirth contacted the suspect and observed that the suspect was intoxicated to a point that he was a danger to himself or others. The man was arrested for public intoxication.
Early this morning at about 4:00, Officer Andrew Valdez contacted a motorist for a traffic violation in the 1600 block of North Second Street. Officer Valdez contacted a male driver and during his investigation he detected indicators of deception about the driver's true identity, including the driver's inconsistencies with knowing common identifiers like his middle name, social security number, or his driver's license number. The man was given ample opportunity to identify himself. Officer Valdez's investigation revealed that the man lied about his identity and that the man had an active felony warrant for his arrest. During this investigation, a female occupant was identified and found to also have an active warrant for her arrest. Both persons were arrested on their warrants. The male driver was also arrested for failure to identify.
