The Abilene High Eagles scored four runs in the top of the 7th to snatch a victory away from the Cooper Cougars on Friday by a final of 5-2.

The Cougars played some phenominal defense to back thier Freshman Pitcher Darrin Rout early.

In the second inning Cooper seized momentum when a fired up Carlson Humpries ripped a triple to left-center field and he would slide into third with the triple and let out a big yell after popping up.

Then the next batter, Tyler Jenkins, Lifted a Sac fly to left that would score Humpries and the Cougars broke on top 1-0. After a ball got away from AHS catcher Rocky Beard Cooper would take a 2-0 lead after two.

After the Eagles answered with one run it was a very quick game with both pitchers throwing a great game.

In the top of the 7th Nate Kittley drove a ball to the left center gap for a two run triple. Kittley would pull up with a leg injury on the play but Abilene High took the lead and added two more runs before all was said and done.

So the Eagles would hold on and take the win by a final of 5-2, and leap frog the cougars to third place in the standings.
