Cowboys In Ninth At ASC Championship

Playing a soggy course and in rain parts of the day the Cowboys struggled to rounds of 340 and 334 to shoot a total of 674 on the first day of competition. Texas-Tyler is running away with the team race as the No. 2 Patriots shot rounds of 300 and 295 and leads Mary Hardin-Baylor by 29 shots.
The Cowboys have four freshmen in the lineup and they had the top four totals for HSU. Brandon Heard had rounds of 84 and 83 for a 167 total. Sean Aleman had the top round for the Cowboys with an 82 in the second round to go with an 88 for a 170 total.
Hunter Smith shot 85-86-171, Ryan Hughes had an 83-89-172 and Tyler Mileger improved the most from round one to round two, going 91 and 83 for a 174 total.
Jacob Walsh of UT-Tyler shot rounds of 71 and 75 to lead the medalist race with a 146 total. The Patriots have the top three scores heading into the final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.
