The 47th Annual "World's Largest Barbecue" will be held for a number of those in the Dyess community. At least 3,000 people are expected to make it out to the event, which will serve food to active-duty military, guard and reserve, Department of Defense civilians and their families.
"Just to say thank you, thank you for what you do every day, thank you for your service and your sacrifices," says Debra Morotini, Director of Military Affairs. "The military affairs committee with the chamber of commerce, we get all our volunteers and they pull together this one day a year and we have folks come out and say thank you by feeding them barbecue and catering to them."
The World's Largest Barbecue will take place this Saturday at the Abilene Civic Center, and volunteers are still welcome to help out.
