J.L.A. Promotes Healthy Habits through "Fun Run"

Hundreds of parents brought their kids out to Nelson Park this morning for some family fun and racing activities.

The Junior League of Abilene hosted their 1st "Fun Run" event here in Abilene. The morning consisted of a mile and a half fun run...followed by relay races, obstacle courses, face-painting, and much more. The purpose of the event was to promote healthy eating and living habits in children early so that can carry it with them down the road.

"I think it's a wonderful thing because the children can come out, it's free, everybody pulls together at the same time and promotes healthy habits for them and teaching them good for the future" says Stephanie Trowbridge, Committee Member of "Kids In The Kitchen" with the J.L.A.

The Junior League of Abilene plans to continue hosting this event again around the same time next year.
