Abilene Treats Military Members To Meal

Local military members and their families were honored for their service today with a special BBQ.

The Abilene Chamber of Commerce and Military Affairs Committee hosted the 47th annual World's Largest Barbeque.

Volunteers served up plenty of barbeque meat, coleslaw and baked beans to hundreds of military members and their families at the Abilene Civic Center today.

It was all part of a way to show the communities appreciation for their hard work and service to our country.

"We just want to say thank you for such wonderful service to our country and our nation in keeping our nation free so to provide the small token of a barbeque is the least we can do," said Gray Bridwell of the Military Affairs Committee.

The volunteers provided both lunch and dinner.

Some volunteers were up as early as seven thirty in the morning to prepare the meal that consisted of 700 lbs. of meat.
