Last night at approximately 9:40, Officer David Cox contacted a motorist for a traffic violation. The motorist was driving without any lights on. During the initial attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver did not immediately pullover and continued driving westward on South 14th Street. After a couple bursts of the air horn, Officer Cox was finally able to get the driver to stop in a nearby parking lot in the 4500 block of South 14th Street. When Officer Cox contacted the driver, he smelled the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle and he detected indicators of intoxication from the driver. The driver was given standard field sobriety tests which he failed. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail where he provided breath samples. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's blood alcohol content to be 0.346 and 0.343. The man was arrested for an enhanced misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated (DWI) based on a previous conviction for DWI.

Last night at approximately 10:45, Officer Rusty Antilley contacted a motorist for a traffic violation in the 1600 block of North Treadaway Boulevard. Officer Antilley contacted a male driver. A K-9 officer assisted in this traffic stop. During the investigation, the K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. During the search of the vehicle, a large chunk of substance that tested positive for cocaine was located. A check of records also revealed the driver had several local traffic warrants. The driver was arrested for his warrants and also charged with felony delivery of a controlled substance; to wit: cocaine.

Last night at approximately 10:45, Officer Damien Hutchinson attempted to contact a motorist for a traffic violation. During the attempt to stop the motorist, and while using his emergency lights, the vehicle sped away from the attempted traffic stop and into a residential area at a high rate of speed. Officer Hutchinson assessed the situation and did not give chase. However, shortly thereafter, Officer Hutchinson located the suspect and suspect vehicle stopped in the 1800 block of North 20th Street. The male subject was detained and a K-9 officer assisted in this investigation. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. The vehicle was searched and residual elements of marijuana were located in the vehicle along with drug paraphernalia. Based on the suspect's actions to elude police, a search of the nearby area was conducted. The search produced a small bag of marijuana at a nearby street corner. The investigation revealed that the male suspect threw the bag of marijuana out of the vehicle while turning the street corner. The suspect was also driving on a suspended driver's license. The suspect was arrested for felony tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana, and for driving while license invalid.
