Krysta Burleson was just leaving the courthouse around noon Thursday and driving west on 25th Street when she heard a loud "boom" and then lightning struck her car.

"I was on the bridge over Deep Creek when I heard the boom and the next thing I knew there was just a bright light," said Burleson, a deputy in the district clerk's office.

"There was a boom and there it was. My front windshield was shattered and the mirror on the right side of the car was knocked off," said Burleson.

"I screamed bloody murder when it happened and I'm just happy to be alive," added Burleson, noting she suffered no injuries from the strike.
