Western Heritage Classic has Positive Impact on Local Economy

By: Natalie Ferrari
Updated: May 15, 2012
While thousands of visitors made their way to the Western Heritage Classic last weekend, the economic boost impacted much more than just the Taylor County Expo Center.

Over the past 28 years, the Western Heritage Classic has brought about 25,000-30,000 visitors to the event, packing hotels and restaurants across the area.

Not only has such a grand event kept money in Abilene, a great amount of "new money" from tourists is also pumped into our economy.

Despite some last minute changes and weather factors, attendance is still believed to have exceeded the numbers from last year's event.
