Brownwood HS Freshmen To Receive Mac Laptops

By: Newsroom
Updated: May 16, 2012
Incoming freshman at Brownwood High School will have new computers starting next year.
All freshmen will get a new MacBook Air laptop in the fall.

Brownwood ISD has decided to upgrade to the smaller and lighter models over iPad because they support state testing materials.

The laptops will also make classes a little more interesting.

"Whether it be interacting with each other, or with the teacher, the teachers incorporate different software or projects where  the students have the interact with them or others. So it really engages both the students and the teacher."

This upgrade is going to cost about $250,000, some money is coming from the state, some from students, and about $160,000 is coming from the district and tax dollars.
