They were moments captured in time- 60 years worth of memories.

"I remember the sports, I was into sports- we won city champs in softball that year and I did my first formal presentation," said Carolyn Conner, a former student.

Now Fannin Elementary will be just that- a memory for all who once roamed through its halls as its doors close for the final time.

Carolyn Conner was a student at the school during the 1950's.

Se made sure to say her goodbyes as faculty and students bid their final farewell to Fannin.

"Oh I'm excited to see if there's any teachers here and some of the memorabilia," she said.

She was able to bump into one of her former teachers- Lewis Duncan who also coached the schools football team back in the '50s when the school was brand new.

"It's sad to see some place you love like this sorta fading away," said Duncan.

Multiple generations made their way through endless pictures and other memorabilia of the Fannin Cheetahs.

It was a giant time capsule- of kids, parents and even grandparents who are saying goodbye to a building, but aren't letting go of the many lessons learned and friends made.

"It's sad, but i think its served its purpose and we'll just move on with it," said Conner.

For many its a bittersweet parting- but now its on to the new Myra P. Martinez Elementary School being built, a new building with potential new memories for the next classes to come.

"Oh they're excited I mean we've been working on this all year loving Fannin as the school that we have now but really looking forward to the new school," said Linda Case, the current and final principal at the school.

Students at Fannin will now join students from College Heights Elementary to move to the new school being built on the former Lincoln Middle School site.
