Tax Break on Appliances For Memorial Day Weekend

Sales tax is a normal part of life here in Texas, but for this weekend
only, Texans get a chance to save some green, by going green.
Michael Hickman works at Lowe's and says people are swarming in to catch a deal, "We've generally seen a two to three times increase in the customer traffic throughout the memorial day weekend".
Any appliance store that sells Energy Star products is included in this event. Appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, and the ever needed air conditioner all qualify.
Hickman says this is one way Texas is taking steps towards energy efficiency, "The last few years we have seen people focusing more on Energy Star, and looking to save electricity and water in their appliances".
This is the fourth year Energy Star is participating in this event and Hickman tells us most people ask for the little blue label when looking to buy an appliance.
"This is probably the biggest thing i've seen around here--the energy star appliances. In general, it's a thing that most people look for as a way to save electricity in their homes", says Hickman
The sales tax holiday ends at 11:59pm Monday evening.
