TxDOT Weekly Update: June 2, 2012

By: Texas Department of Transportation
Updated: June 1, 2012
Below is a summary of planned construction and maintenance work to be performed on roadways in Abilene and surrounding areas for the next week. While TxDOT strives to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions and activities, circumstances beyond our control may occasionally cause schedule changes. TxDOT urges motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit signs and be alert for construction equipment and workers.

Abilene Area Office construction projects:
  • FM 2833 (East Lake Road) reconstruction in Taylor County: Crews will proceed with road base work. No traffic changes are anticipated.
  • FM 89 reconstruction and widening project: Crews will continue work on the road base at the west end of the project. Traffic will travel on unpaved sections during this work, and drivers should approach this area with caution.
  • Fort Phantom Hill enhancement project: Kiosk construction continues.
  • I-20 from west of Wells Lane to Shirley Road resurfacing project: Crews will finish spot repairs and prepare for seal coating.
  • I-20 median crossovers from Nolan to Callahan County: Recent rain has delayed progress. Work will resume if medians dry sufficiently.

Taylor County Maintenance Office projects:
  • I-20 from the Taylor/Callahan County line to Nolan County line: Repairs to pavement edges.
  • US 83: Base failure repair on Danville Street.
  • I-20 near Wimberly Road: Pavement failure repair.
