Ruff Riders Annouce: Houston Stallions No Longer Part Of Lone Star Football League

By: BCH Sports/Abilene Ruff Riders
Updated: June 4, 2012
The Abilene Ruff Riders have been authorized to announce that the Houston Stallions Organization will not be completing the season for the 2012 year.  Due to the recent resignation of the General Manager and staff the Organization has been put in a financial and operational bind that significantly deteriorates the ability for the team to continue play without jeopardizing the long term future of the organization.

Scott A. Anderson, of the Ruff Riders, had this to say, "We as a league and as a Ruff Riders Organization are saddened that one of our partners was put in this situation.  However, the Lone Star Football League was formed by owners that believe that open discussion and a sense of partnership amongst the owners will create stability in the long term for the League.  Our partner Joe Kramer came to the League and fully informed us of the situation a few weeks ago.  I personally appreciate Joe's honest approach to the situation in Houston and we have done all that we can to help that situation.  In the end this is the best decision for Joe Kramer and Houston at this time."

"I would like to point out that Joe is still a minority owner in the Abilene Ruff Riders and he will continue in that capacity.  We fully welcome a partner of his character and hope to see him at more Abilene games as this season continues towards winning a championship in 2012."

Due to this occurrence there will be effects to the Schedule of the Ruff Riders and the other teams in the Lone Star Football League. The effect of the announcement is as follows:

1.     The LSFL will issue an official announcement in the coming days as the legal issues are finalized.

2.     The players on the Houston Team will be immediately released and become free agents available to the other teams in the league.  48 hours after the official league announcement the players are eligible to be signed.  The Ruff Riders Spokesman commented, "Coach Dockery is currently working with the Houston ownership to insure that the players are taken care of and help to deal with multiple issues on that front."

3.     All Teams that have played Houston will have that game removed from the official standings as if not played.

The Ruff Riders will look at possible players to bring in that can help the Ruff Riders during the home stretch, but will not seek to make wholesale changes to the current roster.   Scott A. Anderson commented, "We have a great group of young players that have done and are doing everything we ask to make this organization better on and off the field of play.  It is with that in mind we will delve into the free agency frenzy that is likely to occur with the release of the Houston Players." "There is no doubt they have some key positional players that can help our team and we will explore those opportunities on a case by case basis, but we are not willing to sacrifice the great strides this group of young men have made this year with our organization as a whole by bringing in the wrong guy to fit within our current team chemistry."

The major effect of this announcement is the changes to the Ruff Riders schedule which is favorable as the Ruff Riders push to the playoffs.   The schedule for the remainder of the season is as follows:
