"He is fluffy and cute and cuddly and sometimes he sleeps with me at night."

Tonight would have been the first night 9-year-old Cameron Robertson did not have her fluffy companion next to her.

"Babysitter called and said the kids were outside playing with gizmo and a car came and snatched him up and drove off," says Jennifer Martinez, Cameron's mother.

Leaving this family at a loss for words.

"I was very sad," says Cameron.

Martinez adds, "Worried, confused, worrying what we were going to do next."

Then Martinez remembered that there was someone nearby who saw the whole thing unfold and knows where the suspect lives, her neighbor.

"And they actually were able to give me an address and everything as to where she lived," says Martinez.

That is when she got in her car and went to the person's house who reportedly took the dog. Surely it had to be some sort of misunderstanding.

"I got a couple of deceitful answers in the beginning. They were claiming that they didn't have him," says Martinez.

After she assured them they were the ones with her dog, they made her prove it.

Martinez explains, "After a few questions, they eventually gave me Gizmo back, but it seemed like they wanted to keep him for sure."

Regardless of how the day unfolded, the family is happy to have their four-legged member back.

"It all worked out well. As long as we got Gizmo back, that's the most important thing, but it just makes you think what people will do," says Martinez.
