Early Police Officer Doug Hurt responded to an accident involving an 18-wheeler that jackknifed in the 1800 block of Early Blvd around 4:30am Thursday.

The accident occurred during the heavy rain causing the truck to hydroplane then jackknife, according to Early Police Chief David Mercer. The truck slid into the median near the intersection of Jenkins Springs road damaging several of the shrubs and highway decorations maintained by TxDot.

The driver, George Early Nowlain of Valley Mills, was transported by Guardian EMS to Brownwood Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Mercer said.
