"Just skin and bones," said Collins.

The abandoner did, however leave them some water- but it wasn't enough.

One of the horses passed away, another may be on its way.

However Lynn Shults from Rescue the Animals thinks the rest will be okay.

We have some horses that have some injuries about them, I don't think its anything serious.

Ranger police say these types of cases are becoming more common.

"We're seeing this more and more just based upon either economy or drought conditions or lack of hay lack of feed, you know prices going up," said Ranger police chief James Elliot.

Neighbors have helped take care of some of the horses.

Many are just in shock that someone would just leave the animals to die.

"It shocks me every time the scope of this rescue case is way more than we've had to handle here," said Connie Hobey, who took in several of the horses to care for on her property.

The horses will go to Abilene and be put up for adoption.

As for Collins- he's still in shock over the large delivery.

"It's not human to do something like this," he said.

He's already made sure it'll never happen again after he sold his property.

"I signed a contract today it's not going to be mine, the other owner can do whatever he wants to do with it," he said.
