TxDOT Set to Resurface Stretch of FM 600

By: News Release
Updated: June 15, 2012
A resurfacing project for FM 600 in north Abilene will get under way the week of June 18.

About 2.5 miles of the roadway will receive a new surface from I-20 to FM 3034 (Beltway North) in Jones County. In addition to resurfacing the roadway, work will include adding sidewalks to a short section adjacent to businesses near the intersection of I-20 and FM 600.

Work should be complete by late summer, weather permitting.

Drivers should be prepared for uneven pavement, lane closures and two-way traffic routed along a single lane with flagger direction at times.

During construction, some driveways will need to be closed for short periods, but access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.

Contract Paving Company of Tye will complete the project for about $1.2 million.
