City Council Approves Swimming in Lake Abilene

Abilene City Council approved a change to allow swimming at Lake Abilene, but it doesn't look like you'll be able to swim anytime soon.
Park officials say what will become the designated swimming area is mostly dry now due to low lake levels.
The eight-foot deep section will be cleaned and eventually marked off for swimmers.
They hope to have it available by spring of next year, depending on how much rain we see in the future.
In response, city council is asking for input from the legal and water departments in allowing swimming across all Abilene lakes, with the hope one might be able to open sooner.
