Ovalo Community Celebrates Local Post Office

The Ovalo community celebrated a city landmark over the weekend.

The City Post Office has been around since 1909, and the community thought the post office was in danger of closing until last month.

Members of the community gathered Saturday at the Ovalo Community Center to commemorate the longevity of the post office.

"The community is over one hundred years old, it's one of the only businesses in town except for a maintenance for vehicles and two churches," says Ovalo Post Master Margie Wheeler.

The special reception included a display of old photographs of the post office as community members shared stories about the city staple.
