Abilene emergency dispatchers are changing the way they handle 911 calls.

Starting Monday, they will be using a new computer-assisted program that will allow the dispatchers to ask questions of the callers and send only the emergency crews needed.

Local emergency service providers say the person who answers the call will be asking the questions and others will be sending the kinds of services that are needed.

Officials say the response will not be delayed, but it will save time and money by sending only the services needed to each emergency problem.
