Shortly before 5:00 Sunday afternoon, a Suburban pulling a horse trailer jack-knifed at mile marker 269 due to slick road conditions during a downpour moving through Merkel at that time.
The accident caused a chain reaction and involved a total of five vehicles. One person was transported to Hendrick Medical Center. All other passengers and drivers were uninjured.
The westbound lanes were opened back up shortly after 6:00 Sunday. The weather conditions at that time are to blame for the wreck.
