TxDOT to Host Public Meeting on Lamar Street Project in Sweetwater

By: News Release - Texas Department of Transportation
Updated: July 13, 2012
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) invites citizens to attend a public meeting about a project to rehabilitate Lamar Street (BS 70-G) on July 24 from 1 to 8 p.m. in the administration classroom at the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital at 200 E. Arizona Ave. in Sweetwater.

The proposed project would improve Lamar Street from Avenue B to I-20. Work would include rehabilitating the existing roadway with new base, asphalt pavement, sidewalks, signs and pavement markings. Plans call for the project to be built in phases with one side of Lamar Street closed at a time.

The informal meeting will have an open-house, come-and-go format where citizens may view exhibits of the proposed project. No formal presentation will be given, but TxDOT staff will be available to answer questions and take comments. Comments will also be accepted for 10 days after the meeting date. Citizens do not have to attend the meeting in order to submit comments.

Exhibits available at the meeting will include layouts of the proposed project, environmental documentation, tentative construction schedule and other related information. After the meeting, exhibits will be available at TxDOT's Big Spring area office at 1301 N. SH 350 in Big Spring and the Sweetwater maintenance office at 7526 N. I-20 in Sweetwater.

For questions about the meeting location and time, please contact Big Spring Area Engineer Jesse Mendoza, P.E. at (432) 263-4768.

Anyone with special needs who wishes to attend the meeting and needs accommodation should contact TxDOT public information officer Darah Waldrip at (325) 676-6817 at least five days prior to the meeting date. The meeting site is handicap accessible.
