Can Your Car Survive The Summer Heat?

"The heat is really bad for your vehicle," says Quick Lane manager, Shane Bearden. "Cooling systems have a tendency to break down, especially with the heat."
Cooling systems aren't the only thing to watch out for when the thermometer shoots through the roof. According to Bearden, tires also take a beating on hot asphalt roads. So how do you keep your vehicle from succumbing to the heat?
"It's always important to have your cooling system checked," Bearden suggests, "make sure your levels are proper...make sure you have plenty of rubber on your tires."
But lets be honest, most people have probably skipped a few items when it comes to regular car maintenance. For those people, Bearden prescribes a check up in a hurry.
"Some people can go a few thousand miles over and still be okay, others not so much," Bearden explains. "It's always important to have it checked just to give you a little peace of mind."
According to Bearden, Summer is one of the worst times to skip out on regular oil changes and other routine maintenance, because of the heat and amount of travel for families.
"That is the lifeblood of your car," he says, "so it is important to make sure that that is taken care of before you go out of town or on any long trips."
