We start it with the Wylie Bulldogs and the Snyder Tigers at the new look Tiger Stadium. Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine says the Tigers and Bulldogs will be fighting for the runner spot behind Monahans in District 4-3A. Head coach Hugh Sandifer's team is ranked 18th by the magazine heading into the new season. Snyder is unranked and are a bit of an unknown quantity with new head coach Aubrey Sims and only 7 starters returning from 2011. Snyder is the only team in the district that seems to have Wylie's number. Since 2004, the Tigers beat the Bulldogs 4 times in 6 meetings. The last was last year, when they beat Wylie at Bulldog Stadium 34-20. The Bulldogs last win came in 2009.

Now to District 4-2A Division 2 for the match up between the 3rd ranked Cisco Loboes and Colorado City. The Wolves trip east down I-20 will be their 2nd long trip in 3 weeks, but this one is a real test. Head coach Frank Johnson has built Colorado City into a playoff regular with 4 straight postseason appearances and 6 trips to the playoffs in the last 8 years. Speaking of playoff regulars, the Cisco Loboes have set up shop in the Class 2A post season every year but 2 since Brent West took over in the land of the Big Dam. The Loboes are favored to go back this year, and they are favored to return to the state championship game for the 2nd year in a row and the 5th time since 2002.

Goldthwaite and San Saba meet at Eagle Stadium in Week 9 with the Eagles trying to secure another district championship. The Eagles are ranked 7th in the state to start the year and this game with San Saba is expected to be the game for the district championship in District 5-A Div. I. Both teams have been good in the last few years, but the Eagles have dominated the Armadillos. San Saba won last year, but Goldthwaite won the game 7 straight years.

Here's a look at the best of the rest in Week 9. The Cooper Cougars finish the regular season in San Angelo against the Central Bobcats.  The Brownwood Lions should be wrapping up another playoff berth in Week 9. They are scheduled in Gatesville for their next to last game.
