"We've partnered with them before," says WCT founder and leader, Retired Sergeant Gordon Storey. "Friends for Life has a very similar mission statement, to enhance the lifestyle for the elderly and disabled."
According to Sgt. Storey, the WCT has worked closely with Friend for Life visiting local nursing homes and various other projects. In addition to their years of collaboration, all of the funds from this weekend's car wash will go directly to the Friends for Life cause.
"It's going to help Friends for Life basically do what they do," explains Sgt. Storey. "It can be with their guardianship program, or it could be their quality of life program that helps people be able to remain at home if they choose to."
The WCT's Summertime car wash tradition originally started as a way to raise funds for the team, but when the team no longer needed the funds they immediately found a way to give back.
The WCT team turns 12 this month under the leadership of Sgt. Storey. To commemorate the occasion, Sgt. Storey hopes to surpass their all time car wash record by raising over $1,945 in just one fundraiser.
