Local Volunteers Wash Cars for a Texas Based Organization

Updated: July 21, 2012
The heat on Saturday afternoon didn't keep many volunteers from working hard in the sun, all for a good cause.

Members of the "Dyess We Care Team" spent the day washing countless cars for the "Friends for Life" program. "Friends for Life" is a Texas based organization, with a branch here in Abilene, aimed at providing a better quality of life for the disabled and elderly. Over two dozen volunteers participated in the car wash.

Founder and Program Director of the Dyess We Care Team, Gordon Storey, says "We always look for the hometown charities that maybe don't quite have the national level resources, and friends for life is a Texas based organization founded in Waco, but we have a small branch out here in Abilene. So we're looking just to help them kind of get a jump start with a little money."

Big Country Homepage is told that the team did reach their goal of $1,000. The Dyess We Care Team has held a series of car washes for many local organizations. This is their first one for the "Friends for Life" organization.
