"I saw the smoke and I knew there wasn't anything we could do, so I told the kids to run to the front. And we just got them out", says Estella.
Neighbors gathered around and watched as the fire took over the house, a storage shed, and a pickup truck. But they say they are just thankful no one was hurt.
"Oh my gosh, I was barely at the stop sign and I couldn't get that close. You could feel the heat that much. But that's what I keep telling Estella, the owner, that it's just material stuff. Everything will get replaced. I said, 'your life, your husband and the kids, that will never be replaced'. She had young grand kids in there. But everybody is OK though", says Mireya Longinos, neighbor.
Firefighters arrived on the scene around 4:30 in the afternoon, and it took 24 of them to contain the fire.
"Upon arrival it was fully engulfed on this side of the structure", says Division Chief, Weldon Wilkerson.
The fire department tells us the inside of the house as well as the outside is very damaged, but they were able to completely contain the flames within a couple hours.
The official cause of the fire is under investigation, and at this point they are focused on making sure the elderly homeowners are alright.
