HSU Hosts Pool Party for Local Neighborhood

By: Kristin Anderson
Updated: August 4, 2012
Local kids were beating the heat at a pool party this evening.

Hardin-Simmons hosted it's annual back to school celebration for the North Park Friendship House, in which faculty and staff from HSU donated school supplies like they do every year.

This year, groups used backpacks to stuff the supplies in, and the backpacks were handed out to the kids at the pool party. There were about 20 backpacks this year, and north park says this is a great way to bring the community together, while helping out the parents with school supplies.

"Every kid needs school supplies. And it eases financial burdens for some of our families and it lets the kids know that the folks at Hardin-Simmons are supporting them as they start a new school year," said Laura Herridge, communications coordinator for North Park Friendship House.
