He takes over a group that shared the district championship in 2011, but ended the season with a losing record. Smart is trying to turn that around, but the players will tell you, Smart believes winning teaks more that just speed and execution.
Bulldogs senior John Seaborne said, "Discipline is a lot different, for sure. We can't be a minute late. We can't walk around. We can't take our helmets off, so definitely more serious. We're ready to win."
Coach Smart added, "We can't discipline them if they don't discipline themselves. We just tried to put some high expectations on them and help them hold themselves to a high degree of morality. You know, expect more of themselves than just showing up. We want them to show up, work hard, do things right, and be successful out here and in life."
Smart inherits 4 returning starters on both sides of the ball. Seasbourn and Montel McKinly are expected to make the Bulldogs spread offense shine this year. Clyde opens the 2012 season in Bangs.
