Tereka Chance and her son, Amari are very close. So close, they shared a room for nine years, but it wasn't by choice. It was out of fear
Amari has autism and his mom says he doesn't know the difference between right and wrong.
"He would wake up and scream," Chance said. "He would move and you would never know what he was doing or where he was going."
For years, Tareka kept Amari safely by her side. She was afraid to take her eyes off him for even one moment, until she heard about Vivint, a home alarm system.
Cody Bennett, a Vivint field professional explains the automatic alarm system.
"Home automation, meaning you can lock and unlock your front door. You can have cameras in your home. You can change your thermostat all from your phone or computer as well monitoring your security system."
Tareka said this system has been a godsend in her house.
"If I'm in my room I don't have to worry about him going out the door because the alarm will tell me and I can get to him."
With the system, she can see her son from any room in the house. She can also hear if anyone opens a window or a door. She can even be notified via text message when she is not home.
Tereka says her life has changed for the better, Amari now sleeps in his own room...
And while their relationship remains close, Tereka now has her freedom.
"I love it. I can't see myself without it.".
