Recent rain in the eastern part of the Big Country brought enough moisture to reduce the danger of wildfires.
The burn ban was lifted only in Callahan County. We have not heard from any other counties.
The Sunday afternoon rain shower brought more than a half-inch of rain to some areas of the city. The Abilene Fire Department reports almost six-tenths of an inch of rain fell at fire station number three. That's just west of Sayles Boulevard on South 19.
The fire department measured slightly more than a half-inch of rain at the central fire station at 250 Grape Street.
There was more than a third of an inch of rain at fire station number five in northeast Abilene.
The smallest amount recorded was at fire station number eight on Buffalo Gap road in far south Abilene.
The other fire stations report that they recieved about a quarter of an inch of rain.
