Bombers Sign Quarterback

By: Abilene Bombers
Updated: September 11, 2012
The Abilene Bombers and Head Coach Joe Brannen are excited to announce that they have started the process of building their roster for the 2013 season.  The Bombers have a 2013 commitment from quarterback, Andre Coles.  The 6'5" 245 pound quarterback is a product of Kutztown University in Pennsylvania has 4 years of Arena football experience under his belt. Andre also has a championship on his resume while playing with the Reading Express in 2009.

"This is a very big signing for the Bombers as we begin our recruiting process," said Coach Joe Brannen, "to land a QB of Andre's caliber this early in the game goes a long way for us as we begin to put together the pieces that we, as a staff, feel will enable us to make a run at the LSFL Championship in 2013.  Andre has all the tools you look for in a quarterback in the arena style game.  Number one, he has indoor football experience and success at the quarterback position.  He can make all the throws needed in the indoor game and more importantly he gets the ball out of his hand accurately and on time from many different platforms.  He is a big guy that moves extremely well and can be a threat with his feet, especially in the red zone."

"Andre is talented as a football player but he is also a great character guy that will fit perfectly into our commitment to the community of Abilene.   During my processes of evaluating Andre, it became evident that he is clearly a leader, a very humble, eager, hard working football player. He perfectly fits what I expect from our players here in Abilene, guys who want to strive to be champions both on the field and be a part of the community of Abilene," commented Brannen.

When asked about joining the Bombers, Coles was ecstatic to get to town and get to work.  "I have to thank Coach Brannen for offering me the opportunity to play in Abilene.  I am excited to be part of an organization that is solid both on and off the field and is committed winning an LSFL Championship in 2013.  It became obvious to me that great things are happening within the organization and I want to be a part of it.  I am excited to have the opportunity to learn from Coach Brannen who has played quarterback at the level that I am striving to get to.  This is a perfect fit for me as a player and I look forward to being involved in the community."

The Abilene Bombers will be holding its first open tryout on October 13, 2012.  Keep an eye on the website for location and times.   The cost will be $40 per player on day of the tryout.  If you pre-register the cost is discounted to $30.  To pre-register, email coach Brannen at headcoach@bombers.biz or call 515-291-0112.  Registrations are being accepted now!
